Confessions of an un-photogenic photographer

Today I'll take a moment to introduce myself.  This is me, Meg, the one with the vacant stare.  If I'd chosen one of the shots that I looked into the camera it would have been "the one with the bitch face and the death glare".  I'm really not being down on myself, I like myself fine and have grown out of hang ups about my appearance.  But being a photographer, I know what makes for naturally photogenic people and what doesn't...and I have to be much trickier to get a decent shot.  It's okay, it's part of the fun, part of the challenge.

I'm going to take and post at least one photo every day.  At least for the next year, possibly indefinitely.  I have many reasons for doing this.  To gather a larger body of photographic work.  To challenge myself to look at the world as an artist everyday.  To record moments of my life, memories with my family.  To be a historian of the present moment, to use my camera as a tool to go places I wouldn't normally go and meet people I wouldn't usually meet.  I have high but unspecific expectations.

I'm putting this project online for accountability, and because I don't believe something is really art until you let others look at it.

As good a day as any

It's time for me to start taking daily photos again.  Today was a good day for that.  Today however...is not a good day for me to introduce myself to the internet, so I'll save that for another day.  I'll be back.  Tomorrow.  And the next day.  And the next day.  And the next day...

Here's what I saw today.
